Afzal Hossain teams up with Shaila Sabi

Renowned actor Afzal Hossain has been winning the hearts of many with his captivating lead roles, and many emerging artistes have been brought to recognition by sharing the screen with him. Actors who have starred alongside him include Suborna Mustafa, Bipasha Hayat, Afsana Mimi, Tarin and even up and coming artiste Mehazabien Chowdhury. For the first time, popular actor Shaila Sabi will share the screen with the veteran artiste in a tele-film titled “Ashim Akash.” Scripted and directed by Matia Banu Shuku, the project also marks the first time Afzal Hossain is teaming up with the director.

Afzal Hossain will appear as a famous painter named Rais Ahmed, a character that echoes Hossain's years as a student of fine arts. Shaila Sabi plays the role of his student, who is also the daughter of the model used as their painting subjects. A romance blossoms between the teacher and student over time, which is central to the narrative. Regarding his role Hossain said, “Acting is no longer a regular venture for me nowadays as I am too busy with other things. When I am working with a new director, it also means that I am working on a new concept which makes the experience all the more interesting and fulfilling. Shuku and I were both art college students, and therefore we have many similar experiences to draw from when working together. Shaila Sabi is an artiste belonging to the new generation, and working with her has been a great pleasure.”

Co-star Shaila Sabi said, “I do not have many acting projects going on now, but when I received the script for the tele-film and discovered I would get to work with the noted Afzal Hossain, I was excited and determined to not lose the opportunity. Also, it has always been my dream to study at an art college, and through this story I get to live out my fantasy to an extent.”

Director Matia Banu Shuku informed that the tele-film will be ready for airing during April, by ATN Bangla.
